Thumbs down BIG TEN Network WTF?????

Okay so the Big Ten is launghing thier own network, and the only company they have a deal with is Direct TV????? Belowis a list of the games for the first two weeks, and if you do not have Direct TV you are not going to see them. NOT a good move by the Big Ten..the AD at OSU is not please at all. At this point there are 4 OSU games to be shown on BTN, I am not sure about the others.
Now I do have Direct TV, and I will be getting the games, but I have say this is BS! I do not think it is fair to the fans, and the Big Ten should have everything ready to go for all cable companies prior to the season starting.

I heard about this. Horrible move. However, i heard a rumor last week that Buckeye Cable in our area is in talks w/ them. Supposedly it will be on channel 67 (you're set w/ DTV but in case you have any friends that are on Buckeye). We'll see.

I have tickets to the YSU game on Saturday so I am set either way, but it's possible I will be hosed for the other 3 if the deal w/ Buckeye falls through.

Here in Michigan, The Big Ten Network and Comcast are bickering over cost.

BTN wants Comcast to include it in the basic cable package, which will raise everyone's rates by about $1.10 per month.

Comast wants to add BTN to their "Sports Package" which will cost customers something like $10 per month.

I wonder if this will affect the bigger Big Ten games, or just the scrub games like this weekend's slate.

My guess it will be scrub games for now, as ABC/ESPN would pick the higher profile match ups, but my guess that may change with the growth of BTN.
IMO opinion it is just not right. If you live in Ohio you should be able to see all the OSU games, same if you live in Michigan, you should be able to see all of the Michigan games, and so on.
I remember last year when ESPN decided to put the Indiana vs OSU game on ESPN U.....people were very upset, me included. I rememeber the uproar that it caused, and ESPN officials were told not wear ESPN clothing in fear of some sort of retaleation in the COlumbus area. We all knew that OSU would win, but they took away the right to watch the game unless you purchased ESPN U.
I know that I am set, and the only reason for that is we get the NFL ticket, but it still really rubs me the wrong way. I do hope this gets worked out for the fans sake.

I just checked Buckeye's site and it says the network launched last night on Basic Digital, so I'm all set. It's only a matter of time before BTN irons out deals w/ all cable providers.

old news. this is not a directv only deal. directv was the first to sign on, thats all. this happened over a year ago.

if its not on your provider, its your providers fault not BTN's.
