How to paint a T-Rex resin bust ?!

Hi everyone !

I saw some cool Jurassic Park stuffs on the forums and I say to myself : "Hey ! Why don't you get one ?!"
Well, I'll probably buy this item :

A 22" Jurassic Park T-Rex resin bust for 190 dollars.
But in fact, I don't really know what kind of paints I should use and how to do it !
So, I'm here to ask you some help !

Thanks,

J.P.

JP- It's a killer bust, but I gotta tell ya, I wouldn't recommend tackling this one if you're not very experienced working w/ resin kits. This one requires a LOT of grinding, cutting and putty work to get it to look like the pieces you've seen here.

Anyway, if you decide to run w/ it, I used Freestyle acrylic paints on mine, sprayed through an airbrush. You will have to prime the piece before painting though, as acrylic paints have a hard time sticking to unprimed resin. You could probably brush paint it since it's really big, and if you decide to do that I would recommend Liquitex or Golden paints for that. Delta Ceramcoat, Apple Barrel etc....will work as well, and are quite a bit cheaper. You will also need to seal the beast when you like the work you've done. Recommend using Krylon Matte or Testor's Dullcoat for that. Of the two, K Matte gives you more for the money and will leave you with a nice realistic finish.

Hope that helps!

Rick

Becareful with this UK seller, name Gavin Robinson. A total fraud. He takes money and that's it. He also runs a website www.myjurassicapark. Now it's down. He still owes me $600 for 2 T-Rex bust and it's been a long while. So, beware!

Like Rick said. This thing needs a lot of work, but if you are a dino guy then it shouldn't be a problem. Keep us posted.

Well, thanks for answering !

Men, I don't really know if I have to buy it or not since you've problems with it ...
But I'm very attracted !

Otherwise, I was thinking:
Will it cost a lot of money if I pay someone (an artist) to do it ?!

W/ the amount of work necessary to get this beast assembled and painted, yeah, it wouldn't be cheap.
