And Scarlet Witch’s hair used to be black...I noticed a few modern colorists went back to black recently, but you’re right.

It’s like Peter Parker and Wolverine, are their eyes brown or blue? There’s evidence of both...Peter’s should be brown, Wolverine’s should be blue.

But Jean’s hair should always be red. She’s literally been called “Red” in published panels. I’m glad at least XM Phoenix has red hair since sideshow never wants to get it right but that statue also has the overall worst head sculpts of all of the Jeans.

About the hair color - yea, it’s auburn. Not red in the least. The only comic character that comes to mind that should have auburn hair is Scarlet Witch. And she is almost always shown with brown locks.
Pics don't belong to me. They belong to Lewis Villamar from statuecollectors on FB. Here are his words:

"Jean Grey has arrived and she is spectacular. No issues, beautiful sculpt and paint app. Another home run.

Personal preference, I painted her leg/arm guards to match Jim Lee."

I was about to post 'what are Sideshow playing at, adding gold sections to the legs, as the prototype had yellow sections???'
Then i read the post

Neat piece. I'm on the fence.. might pick up the Reg in the future, maybe. Not sold on the EX flames. I'm beginning to accept the base design, which failed to impress when the piece was first revealed, as it looks edible. The statue looks good, and that's what counts.

I think if the outfit was repainted with a darker blue along with adding the gold sections and maybe repainting the flames to look real, then you would have a killer statue... IMO

I actually like this head sculpt a lot. Wish those flames were magnetize so you don’t need to display it with it.

Gold looks alright, if it’s your thing, but I now find it distracting, and worse, it breaks-up the exquisite lines/flow of her legs. Maybe simple was best, or the gold motifs would be less distracting if the rest of the costume was also more detailed and textured.

I’m pretty sure either
1. The top of the mask should’ve had a line where the mask ends and the hair comes out from behind it, or
2. The top of the mask should’ve been low enough we see it end on her forehead and we see her hair line.

Because right now I’m not sure what’s going on. Not distracting enough for me to not get this but also I can’t unsee it.

From normal viewing distance, that EX face reminds me of young Geena Davis.
