For those of you with young kids (2 to 3 yrs)

How old were your kids when you switched them from a crib to a toddler bed? This grandparent can't remember back to when his kids were that age.

Around 2-1/2 years old. You can just tell when the child is too big for the crib.

I think mine were about 2.5 years. Have to remember, easier for them to come get you in the middle of the night from a bed than a crib.

Granny hobbit and my concern is her getting up in the middle of the night. Her room is on the main floor while ours and the room my son uses is on the second floor.

The two rooms don't have enough space for the toddler bed and his full size. I guess I could make him sleep on the floor.

That is a pickle - you need something up high and out of reach that locks the front door

We learned this the hard way while staying in a hotel room. My wife took the dog out for a walk when I was still asleep. Our 2 1/2 year old son woke up, shed his clothes (no idea why) and went to find her (he easily opened the door). Luckily the housekeeper took the naked boy to the front desk. Scary moment.

i would switch out the rooms make sure the stairs are blocked and of course all doors should have child locks on the top of them and put a monitor in the rooms so the kid can call for dad is needed. once a kid canwalk they can climb out of a crib pretty fast so it is important to switch over
