Haha...I love Marvel, and X-Men, but I'm very picky when it comes to superhero character design...at least those characters I like well enough to spend $1000 on. I like a lot of characters, but select few designs really hit the nail on the head for me. And even for some I love, I'm waiting for the costume to be perfected. e.g. Colossus. I love him but his costume was never quite right. I think XM will nail it, based on what I'm seeing in the Sentinel diorama.

Anyway, the five I need are Magneto (missed out on throne; new white one may as well be a different character as Mags IS red/purple costume to me), Gladiator, Iceman, Colossus, and Apocalypse (another character whose costume is mostly miss. The only representation of him that I've liked is the Bowen. I bet I'll love XM's take on him.). Some days I feel like adding a sixth - Sinister, but usually I exclude him.

I do like other Marvel characters from other franchises of course, including some that could be part of X-men, but I count them separately, like Deadpool and Azazel.

No SS "dark phoenix" expressionless head sculpts please

I'd wait to see the sculpt from XM before making a judgement call like that. The sculpt on the SSC Dark Phoenix is sexy as hell. And the expression on the portraits are subjective ...some like it and some don't.

I, for one, wouldn't mind having both the SSC Dark Phoenix and this XM Dark Phoenix. But only if this XM sculpt is just as sexy or more.

I like the blank stare on the SS Dark Phoenix. It's well done and is how she sometimes acted in the book before going all batsh!t.

Plus, no matter what XM gives it, those SS portraits will be more stunning. While XM is growing in theit female portrait game, they are still no where close to SS. SS is a master of paint aps depth/detail, hair design, and overall facial design.

Painfully, that etc., at the bottom there extends to infinity for me. I've pretty much committed to every X-Men release. I hope XM doesn't go at some insane pace to try to make up for lost time.

Well, that's exactly what they are going to do except it's not to make up for lost time...but more to get characters out in case something falls through with the Marvel / Fox situation currently. I feel your plight...because I too have committed to just about every release. I don't know how the hell I am going to manage with Transformers Predator / Alien and DC and Top Cow in between.

Depending on price, I might get this one. I love my Phoenix, but I really hate the overwhelming base. The smaller the better on this version.
