While I freely admit this is how I use the terminology, it's more for everyone else's sake that I talk to. I have no valid/legitimate reason to call a PVC figure a figure, but a statue made of resin a statue.

When i read the word 'figure' my mind assumes it to be a product that is made of some sort of plastic (or metal) and be posable.

When i read the word 'statue' my mind assumes it to be a product that has no articulation.

Articulation was always the defining factor between figure and statue, but after recently selling some non-resin smaller pieces, this was problematic for some.

That's because people associate the word "figure" with Action Figure in collecting.

Figure means just that, a figure or body.

People getting on the "This is Plastic and therefore a figure" need to understand that all materials used in today's statue making are all or mostly plastic they're just made with different levels of rigidity and weight.

Actually, polystone contains powdered stone additives, hence the name.

A figure is anything that has the form of a person or even an animal. It can even be in 2D (figure drawing).

That's 'cold porcelain'. A different term and not what XM are referring to. XM use comparable materials to the rest of the industry - resin and stone dust. In XMs case, they're using porcelain dust. Their marketing is trying to capitalize on the more luxury connotation of "porcelain".
