I Need Some Help
I've got an action figure/toy investment question.
Obviously, for people who grew up in the early 60s, if they'd bought FF#1 or Amazing Fantasy #1 comic books and kept them in mint shape they'd be sitting on a couple of hundred thousand dollars worth of merchandise now (I saw Amazing Fantasy go for $122k recently).
I know almost nothing about the action firgure/toy market. Put yourself in the mid 1970s to early 1980s, but skewed earlier rather than later. What specific action figures or toys came out during that period that have jumped insanely in value today vs. their publishing date?
Believe it or not, this is a question I need help with for a work-related project. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks!

I think my memory is but a memory, I can't remember worth crap these days
It really depends what you mean by 'jumped insanely in value', as I don't know of any toy from that period that can't be had for a few hundred $. I'm sure there are some that might go for over 1000, like some of the early Star Wars action figures... Kenner put out a large Alien figure that was worth some dough, and there are some pricey Mego's... I know there must be more...

If you compare the situations as described....the action figure investment would have not come anywhere near the comic book investment.
With Mego, Vintage Star Wars, and GI JOe being three of the most sought after figure groups, none of them..with a few rare exceptions hold up to a FF #1, or Amazing Fantasy #15 investment of ten, or twelve cents.
Mint in box, or mint on card Mego's jumped up and have held nicely (particularly non-superhero...obscure tv characters)
Vintage moc Star Wars af's circa 1976-77 were good investments. They had early repaints which are rare , such as the blue Snaggletooth, and the mail in offers like the original rocket shooting boba fett piece.
GI Joe ( Original mego-like "dolls"..not the plastic af's) were good buys too!
Now you have me curious...what's up at work?

The original diecast batmobile is a huge seller....
The Kiss Dolls MIB from the 70s are an extremely easy sale.
The psychodelic Marvel posters are typically good sellers too.
Let's not forget superhero lunchboxes, piggy banks, waterguns, halloween costumes...........

Marvel and DC Megos come to mind.
Heard the KISS AF are quite valuable.
Also, some of the Star Trek.
Barbi.......

Oh, it's just an idea at this point. Can't say much at this point as it's for a client. But I'll spill later if the idea dies or even tests well and we go with it.
Thanks everyone for your help, by the way.
