Well . . . price is fair.
Remember it is a paintmaster repaint of a NUDE AP.
Nude AP typically sell for 500 at last. I think 700 to 1000 is stretching it a little bit. I follow Clay's work on Ebay fairly closely and haven't seen it hit that type of price for a while.
Still, a previous NON nude AP repaint by Paul went for mid 2000 or so and this price is in line with that.
Getting it for 2000 would actually be a steal when seen in the right frame of mind.
For one thing, aside from the "bronze" factor, this piece is far superior to Bowen's more basic Spidey, Captain America, and Hulk bronzes. The level of SCULPTING is far superior on this piece. To many it remains the definitive statue, the best sculpted ever.
I think Clay still thinks it is his magnum opus and of all the fantastic stuff to come out over the years since this work, I've yet to see something match the Barbarian's majesty . . . even Clay's later work.
What I'm saying is this is legitimately a museum level piece and from that point of view, 2 grand is not outta line. If you have the coin, it's actually a bargain.
I would MUCH rather display this as a centerpiece than a bronze Bowen but that's just my personal preference.

totally agreed!
this would be the centerpiece / grail of every Moore-related collection!
for many collectors one of the best sculptures out there - and this one is masterpainted by one of the greatest artists in the business...
so, if you have the money GM, go for it! I'd do, but my pockets are empty right now
well and if you had concerns about shipment to Europe for such an expensive piece, i know that Paul will handle it very professionally, i bought expensive piece from him too and it was a very positive transaction.

Never spent that much money on one single piece in my collection, but have spent over that amount in just a few months on multiple pieces (i can certainly remember what i bought though ) but if i were to spend that much money on a single piece, it sure would be this one. We'll see, but i probably won't as the home improvements have proven quite costly.
Mouthwatering piece for sure...

This is definately one of a kind in so many ways, first the A/P is limited to 400 and then he customized it to be topless, remember the A/P 400 is limited to the full nude and bikini top, and his only other custom topless was done on a counter sample or a regular edition then top it off with his immaculate paintjob, and you have a super rare and super sharp one of a kind statue of Clays ultimate achievement as a sculpter.
