You guys are aware that if/when Randy gets back to sculpting, half of these posts will be deleted for going off topic, lol.

If anyone gets word on how his surgery went, post something here. We might of bumped heads but he's still good for this industry.

I started off on that site (under Puck it) so it'll always kind of be a first home for me in this hobby. Tons of great info on there. Still go there occasionally, but yeah...not much going on there anymore. I'm hoping they're able to keep it going long enough for a Bowen return.

Speaking of...That Geek Show recently had an interview with Bowen. I don't know the exact rules for youtube links so I'll just throw out the title...

That Geek Show Episode 36 Special Guest RANDY BOWEN of BOWEN DESIGNS

It's a good watch...some funny stories, too. He does talk about needing back surgery and that he's not looking to start anything big until afterwards...as long as he's physically well enough for it. Wishing him the best.

Back surgery is never a good thing. Seen it far too often just open the door to endless surgeries. Hope it goes well.

Many artists go on to teach, supervise, and mentor other artists, or manage art design and development on a consulting basis for statue companies. This might be the ideal way to go moving forward as I cannot imagine anyone keeping up the kind of pace RB maintained during his peak in today's marketplace, which is little short of mind-boggling when you take a moment to think about the staggering amount of product that was produced during that period. Nowadays, many people want grander, bigger, and more detailed product than most of what was produced 15 years ago. You'd think today's prices would make people balk -- but they still line up in the thousands to pay 1k+ for a statue.

At the risk of stating the obvious as if it were a revelation, the competition today is also significantly more fierce and the fanbase is significantly less forgiving, and perhaps most importantly, the product costs significantly more as well.

Bowen’s fans are the most loyal and lined up for new product. No worries there for Bowen. I’m one of them

Yeah back surgeries suck. Allot of them are a crap shoot too. No guarantee that it’s even going to work. Sometimes you actually come out worse. Hopefully it works for him.
