I finally got the Diorama set up in its temporary home, and with a slightly bulging disc in my back it nearly killed me!!! In spite of that I did enjoy the process of slowly bringing this thing to life, starting with the Godzilla portion and making my way across and finishing with Kong. For me, the piece de resistance! In person this thing is absolutely stunning and feels just as epic as you would hope for the price tag! The depth you get in person with the buildings and all the detail just can't be done justice with a photo. I ordered the ac adapters today, and should receive them tomorrow so I can test out the light up feature.
It wasn't without some issues, however. The first box I opened contained Godzilla, and immediately I could see that his right foot was not covered by the tissue paper and was in direct contact with the styrofoam. The foam seems to have melded to his foot somehow. Its difficult to tell if it is a chunk that has attached itself or a thin layer. As you can see in the pics there is a large spot about the size of a quarter, and several smaller bits in the creases of his skin etc. I reached out to Spec Fiction hoping they might have some tips, but this seems like a new issue and they just suggested running it under some water. I was worried about affecting the paint but they said it won't harm it. Anyone else dealt with anything like this and have any ideas?
I am hopeful I can get that part fixed I am just wary of causing further damage.
All in all I am super stoked to have this piece. Kong is my guy and his portion is dynamite! the best Kong on the market for sure. It makes me wish that P1 had taken it upon themselves to do a gigantic Ultimate Masterline version of just Kong for either GvsK or GxK. For me that is the ultimate grail. Spiral Studios will have a fairly large Kong coming soon ish, however I am not sure if a vinyl figure can match a Polystone statue. Hopefully one day we see this.
