So far I lean towards the lighting. I saw one other in hand pic of this statue on instagram and it looks good.
(Mine doesn't arrive until at least next week)

Unfortunately I don’t think it’s the lighting. The sculpt on the cape can’t just disappear from lighting.
The other loss of details on the costume could be, but I’m just thinking a lot of the finer details were lost or made softer in the casting and production stage.

i agree about the cape, im hoping for those who have this on order flash photography is the cause for any other loss of detail. that capes a real bummer though, theyre capable of much better - even the new 52 superman had some really nice stuff going on

I cancelled mine. All in, it was going to be a $920 1/4 scale piece.
While the initial pics are not high quality, there was enough there to tell me that I wasn't going to be satisfied.
No big deal. You win some, you lose some.
