I spoke to my brother about this piece, and he mentioned that they did something called rotoscoping for this movie. I had to look it up. Very cool... makes sense why the movements looked so fluid.

Many films that want to do natural human movements using rotoscoping. Several classic Disney films (ex: Alice in Wonderland) used it in the more realistic human characters while more cartoonish ones use squash and stretch and exaggerating features in transition frames.

I believe Disney used that technic with their sleeping beauty, Cinderella and snow white, and others.
