Shinji wasn't designed to be liked. I find him to be an intriguing character personally. I get tired of the spunky fearless loud mouthed kid that anime often have as the protagonist. He was supposed to be a direct stab at that archetype so had he been universally loved then they wouldn't have done such a good job with him.

So what do you all think that Prime 1 is going to bring for Rei and Asuka? These characters have been done to death in all sorts of scales. Will Prime change up the EVA suits to have more details and textures? It's not like original anime characters and the suit designs are all that detailed.
Prime 1 can definitely add to the EVAs with their digital magic. So I definitely expect to see EVAs

The scale will definitely give them an edge to begin with. As for what they might do, who knows. I hope they do the units first.

man, i can not wait to see some actually stuff from this line. i hope it wont be too far off as i know they have like announced 300 licenses in the last few months. hoping this line is higher up on the priority list.

its unfortunate but not surprising they have to use the rebuild designs. I much prefer the originals, unit 01 still looks good though. guess ill stick with my original og model plan and take a pass on these
