How strong is resin?

I was wondering how strong resin is? I'm sure there are different strenths depending on the product you use, but in general how strong is it? Is it brittle? Is it more pliable than brittle?

I've never worked with any resin models so I don't have any first hand experience.

Good resin is like a solid piece of heavy plastic or tile flooring (sorta best way to discribe it). Cheaper resin is lighter like a plastic and prob with enough pressure you can dent it with a finger nail.

Thanks Vince. Do you happen to know a brand/product of one of the better resins?

I'm working on a project that I'm considering casting, but it is something that is going to be handled quite a bit so I need something stronger.

Nope i dont know which brand is better to use and whats the strongest. I suggest you try out asking over at www.theclubhouse1.net. Lots of producers over there who make some very strong and clean kits that could help a ton.

I know some of those producers are here on this board as well, but i would think the club house would have more guys who know the best stuff to use.

I know the clubhouse well. I'll try over there.

Thanks again.

I use Smooth-On products. They have all kinds of resin with hardnesses from pink erasers to rock hard.
