Kinda makes you wonder how some of these statue companies come up with their prices when a toy company like NECA can produce things of this quality at a fraction of the price.

its a shame isn't it?

Some on this site won't even consider it a collectible because its plastic...a total shame...sure its a toy but the likeness is spot on....kinda like the KOTO batman...the best Batman out there...some on this site refuse to add it to their collection because its not polystone...what a joke

NECA Conan vs SS Conan

NECA / McFarlane Robocop vs SS Robocop

NECA Alien vs SS Aliens

A good sculpt is a good sculpt!

I don't care what the medium is as long as it looks good.

Sure there may be some compromises like minor seams or jointed areas, but in the end what pleases my eye is what counts.

Don't forget Mezco's 18" Hellboy (2004), totally blows away the SS Hellboy PF.

I just finished w this guy. A lot of sanding, adding holes where they need, spraying w lacquer black + Alclad chrome followed by some touches of acrylic black and some subtle rust colored drips here and there...

now he looks almost like the $2,000 Cinemaquette version!

will post pics soon.

Turn your Neca T-800 into a CM T-800!

Right, let's DO THIS!

First, you need to prep this guy. Grab a comfy couch and some movies and get to work.

Sand all the seams you can find. If there are any bad gaps, fill those in with putty and sand away. Start at 400 grit down to the finest you got!

Also before doing any priming, you will want to create the specific holes that are missing on the Neca model. I took a small dremel drill bit, and only inserted it not deep at all at the maxilla, shoulders, clavicle and 3 tiniest holes in the circle on the upper breastplate.
Gather as many reference photos as possible to compare.
I also took the Dremel and sanded down the sides of the Maxilla as it was too wide compared to the various versions out there.

Sand down all the painted surfaces w a light grit sandpaper so primer can take (800 I think i used?)

Make sure to wash with a damp cloth or like i do, use a blowgun attachment to your compressor and blow the crap out of it to get all the dust off to get ready to prime.

Cover the eyes with silly putty, sticky tack or tape to protect them from being painted.

I hung the T-800 on a coathanger, and posed him in the 'Leonardo' pose.

I used an automobile lacquer primer. A light 'dusting' coat first. Let it fully dry. Then heavier coats, very thin paint, low pressure, even coats on all the different sides, close so paint doesn't dry before hitting figure.

Blow the figure again to remove any dust, etc.

I used Alclad's Gloss Black Base. Now, this stuff was sticky and didn't want to dry very fast compared to my primer. Like the primer, use a light dusting for the first coat AND LET IT DRY FULLY. Be careful about dust when it's drying... a bumpy surface will ruin the look of chrome (unless you are doing a Terminator: Salvation version).

I painted 3 coats to hit it from as many angles as possible and let it dry for 48 hours fully.
