This is my feeling exactly. I initially thought I wouldn't be able to remove his Human Torch performance from my mind while watching him play Cap, but he made me completely forget his role as the Torch. Chris Evans "is" Captain America as far as I'm concerned in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for as long as he can pull of the physical appearance, and for as long as he wants to play the part.

I'm not the biggest Shazam fan so I don't really mind so much that this is being designed as a standalone film but admit I'd rather see them focus on films in the DCU that build a cohesive cinematic universe.

I do too. The risk of them going too wild with the character and the storyline is always there. I would rather see something more faithful to the source material.
