I went to a general store. They wouldn't let me buy anything specifically.

The Stooges - Fun House (1970)

It's interesting that this 45-year-old album sounds so fresh and in sync with much of what is being released today: it's just straightforward and stripped-down rock and roll. It didn't get much recognition upon release, but man is it great.

Run-D.M.C. - Raising Hell (1986)

One of my favorite albums of the '80s. It's exactly what I like in my rap: musical experimentation, humor, and old-school boasting.

Missing Persons - Spring Session M

Early 80's 'New Wave' I think they called it. Headed by Ms. Dale Bozzio (THE first Lady Ga Ga) on vocals and Terry Bozzio on drums. These guys used to play with Frank Zappa.

I had this as a cassette in the 80's and played it to death. Just recently scored the CD off Ebay and it's like it's 1982 all over again.

Interestingly I recently learned that the album title is an anagram of the band's name. All this time I just thought it was a cool album title, maybe named after a recording session LOL.

Ah yes, the 80's. Love it!

Spring Session M is a pretty good album. Man, that takes me back... Your Dale Bozzio/Lady Gaga comparison is spot-on.

Black Sabbath - Paranoid & Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
True classics, great workout music! I will never tire of early Sabbath.

Kraftwerk - Electric Cafe
A guilty pleasure. I can't help but dance when this plays, and my kids think I'm nuts.

Boz Scaggs - Silk Degrees (1976)

Aaw yeah... put on your best 3-piece suit, pop your shirt collar, and snort some coke. Lowdown and Lido Shuffle are the standout tracks here, but the whole thing is pretty solid.

Men at Work - Business as Usual (1981/1982)

A truly great album, it never fails to cheer me up. So many wonderful songs! I'd heard the controversy and subsequent court case about the flute riff in Down Under and how it supposedly infringes on the copyright of "Kookaburra". After listening to it, I don't see what the issue is. Anyway, rest in peace Greg Ham.

Judas Priest - The Essential Judas Priest (2006)

A double CD set, chock full of Rob Halford goodness. 34 tracks up through Angel of Retribution, but none that feature alternate vocalist Tim Owens, which is okay by me.

Adam Ant - The Essential Adam Ant

As greatest hits albums go, this is excellent. Completely representative, and not a dud to be found. Ya gotta hand it to this guy: he found a formula that worked, and he stuck with it. In They Might Be Giants' hilarious track XTC vs. Adam Ant, they imply that he's all form and no content, but I find that he does have something to say... as long as you're a dandy highwayman.
