Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

The wait list was up for something like 30 minutes? Assuming the pace of ordering this piece while it was waitlisted was the same as when it was still available, that's 30 minutes x 75 orders a minute = 2250 on the waitlist but this is just me throwing out numbers and pretty much just guessing.
The number of people on that list doesn't matter. My previous point of it being a choice of the consumer still applies. If the consumer wishes to take their chances, that's it. Taking away that possibility in order to boost sales is simply not done.

A conclusion is simply the place where you got tired of thinking.

Believe me, I understand. I'm one of the people on the waitlist right now.

Just let me sit on the list and close me out after it ships. They're doing this hoping I'll buy a reg. Which I won't.
Bingo. It will probably work too. Can't blame them for trying.

I don't understand why you'd rather be told no in the future instead of no now. When I guess they see it as a certainty the order just won't convert? But maybe that's personal preference and I'll never understand.

However, in saying this is a tactic to boost sales is a statement I'd need to see proof on. Using my critical thinking cap I don't think that quite literally telling someone we can't sell you this product is a tactic to boost sales.
