I'm hopeful that this piece will meet my expectations but I already have a custom SS on order so it would really need to blow me away to actually get this one. I almost hope that it lets me down so I can use my points on getting a hulkbuster instead.

Surfer isn’t Hulk or Juggernaut size.

If it is $800 then they’re smoking crack.
If it's $800, it'll still sell out as much as if it were $700...

I definitely wouldn't be surprised if the price is a little higher, given they've been teasing this for what feels like 9 months now. They're going to want to maximize their dollar as much as they can on something like this. Very excited to see the full reveal all the same, I hope it's a home run.

Well ...SSC had the same mentality with the SSC Magneto Maquette. They thought they could use his popularity to label it a MAQ and price it high. I recall they even teased everyone with it by showing his helmet on the table while talking about the Thanos on Throne MAQ. Everyone was super excited. Waiting for it was hard for everyone.

Then they released it and we finally saw the price. The majority were pissed. And to this day the EX is still not sold out. That should be a lessons learned for SSC. Too high of a price will turn off most people.

I don't think Magneto's problem was only price. There are several things people dislike about it. If surfer is amazing, then a high price tag won't keep it from selling out, IMO.

Yeah...the design didn't blow people away. Nothing about the statue really justified the maquette label. The costume was also a big disappointment (although I quite like it after they fixed the belt and shoulder/neck piece).

Agreed. SS could price this at $1,000 and people will still buy it if for no other reason than they “gotta have it” because it’s Silver Surfer and they’ve wanted one for “years”. I think it’s the same reason SS tacked the “maquette” label on Magneto. I wouldn’t be surprised if a future Nightwing statue had the maquette label slapped on it as well.

True that. But SSC always reveal the statue with the price already set. And SSC won't know if this Silver Surfer is amazing to the masses until they reveal it. So SSC doesn't know what they have right now.

And people are more picky now with their money ...as there are more high-end statues and companies to throw money at. If their price is closer to prices of better statues ...even custom statues ...then people will lean more towards those.

The better strategy for SSC is to price it below $700 and up the ES. Following the Thanos on Throne MAQ strategy ...high price with low ES ...leaves too much money on the table, IMO. And the ToT MAQ strategy works only if their design is amazing to the masses ...like how the ToT MAQ was.

Exactly. The design of the statue matters. And SSC will know if they have a winning statue only after they reveal it. And the price does affect how we perceive a statue. We judge if the design/sculpt is worth the price. So again, the price has to be at the sweet spot ...so that people will perceive the design/sculpt is worth the price SSC sets.

The Magneto MAQ is still not sold out, tho.

SSC teased the Magneto MAQ like how they have teased this Silver Surfer MAQ. A lot of people were waiting for a Magneto MAQ/PF for a long time too ...and not everyone is buying it just because they gotta have it. Otherwise the Magneto MAQ would be sold out by now.
