DC hasn't made many good decisions over the last several years, and now we're seeing the results. I'm a DC fanboy through and through, and I've been disappointed with them for quite awhile. Unfortunately, I don't think they have anyone that can pull them together with a solid plan to get things going again anytime soon.
I really think the AT&T purchase which was approved in 2016 and finalized in 2018 has been the major issue with DC comics. Seems to have been the snowball that became an avalanche.

AT&T owns DC comics? Wait, they bought WarnerMedia, right?

I think that if DC had shown any brilliance in the movie or premium station show world that AT&T would have embraced them. However, they have been a clusterF in that department other than Batman IMO. Wonder Woman was a happy accident and that's going to be tested with 1984. It says a lot when Superman, a flagship DC staple, has less favored movies than Aquaman

And I think French "albums" are what we call Trade Paperbacks (TPB). TPBs are multiple issues of a comic that are bound together with a cover?

Monthly titles were put on hold during the Rona, but I'm not sure how much that effected DC. Being a Marvel comic girl I've only stayed on top of DC activities through the news. Honestly, if not for the Batman franchise - do any of us think DC would still be around? I don't.

Even if DC folds, I will still support artists because I love art. I love commissions. I like having unique things, which is why I steer clear of most prints.
What you call TPB is what we call " reliure" or " intégrale". That don't exist anymore, since we don't have any sort of monthly comics anyway.
What we call " album" is a complete story - one shot- usually 46 to 72 pages, or a part of a story, meaning you'll have for example to buy three albums for a complete story. Like I said, it's usually one album per year. So, three albums mean you'll have to wait 2/3 years to know the end of the story...
Readers are less and less patient, which is why stories increasingly rarely have more than three albums.
And thank you, supporting artists can only be a good thing.

I went to a general store. They wouldn't let me buy anything specifically.

I have a feeling they are going to take a loss.
