i played the purple one in a play in college. it was a really tricked-out version of "Philoctetes." my part was actually Odysseus, but at one point we paired up for a "dance number" using choreography from the teletubbies. my partner--my awesome friend Erica--and i clutched an old red leather purse, ran forward and fell backwards, kicking our legs in the air. i think we waved, too.
we were a great tinky-winky.
then the play resumed, i think.

we were directed by steve bodow, who's now the head writer on the Jon Stewart Show. small world.
the costumer (who was later on Sex in the City) & i went to this HUGE old vintage-clothing warehouse store that used to be in Williamsburg (Brooklyn), called Dahmsee's & got old, smelly coats for the show. then we went back to my apt & i got a tremendous nosebleed.
ah, college.

we chatted when we passed in a subway station, but i'm not performing anymore & i think he's shifted totally into writing.
i don't know if he's w/ that same group, anyway. my show in college was directed by Elevator Repair Service, an experimental theater group who generated their own material out of encounters w/ random stuff in the world. Our production of Philoctetes incorporated this oddball, incomplete set of motivational tapes that one of the ERS guys found in a parking lot. And the teletubbies. All woven into a contemporary translation of Sophocles' play.
but, we're not really "in touch." i could maybe email him at the Daily Show, but he won't come to my birthday party or anything.

why aren't they level?
my mom would posit that an odd number is more interesting, visually, than an even one. then she'd pour herself some more box-wine, into a tall glass w/ ice.
while the apple may not fall far from the tree, it can roll down a hill.

Box wine with ice totally rocks
Speaking of wine, I'm sure everybody else knows, but what happened to Merlose? Haven't seen him around. Is he banned or something?
