Maila Syrjaniemi Nurmi aka "VAMPIRA"-R.I.P.
TV's first scream queen horror hostess (briefly) and schlock movie star passed away on Jan. 10, 2008, at the age of 86.
Famous for working with Ed Wood in Plan 9 from Outer Space.
She also scared the sh!t out of me in the begining credits of Chiller Theatre (WPIX - 11, 1960's).
She was Elvira's predecessor.

may she rest in piece. i have the randy bowen vampira statue sculpted by thomas kuntz, and im also having an old garage kit being build and painted, and sculpted by thomas kuntz of vampira being done, it should be complete hopefully by the end of january. she is a legend, man her and morticia were definetly my favorites back in the days.

I read her obit. in the paper this past weekend. She was very cool. A life made for film. RIP Vampira.
