Just finished the remake of "True Grit"; I haven't seen the original in a while, and I'm not someone to downplay The Duke, but I love Bridges' take on Cogburn; I need to get the original on BD, though, if it's available. A strong cast, great story, and gorgeous settings.
One example of both the Classic and the Remake being fantastic.

The latest version is not really a remake, but more of a re-interpritation, truer version of the original source - the book
this is interesting

Rented The Thing remake and Killer Elite.

I had no interest in the latter, but you guys convinced me to give it a shot. The plot looks interesting enough. I'm somewhat burned out on the three leads, but we'll see what they can do together.

I figure renting the former's a "given", as the original still stands as Grade-A Sci-Fi/Suspense. I know it's gotten mixed reviews on here.. but it'll be fun to see the few nods to the Russell outing.

Contraband - 2/5

Headhunters - 3.5/5
An accomplished headhunter risks everything to obtain a valuable painting owned by a former mercenary

A great thriller from Norway, worth a look.

I just rented IN TIME with Justin Timberlake. I enjoyed the movie. The plot is a combination of Logan's Run, Bonie and Clyde, and Robin Hood.

I'd give it at least a 7.5 / 10

Alien Resurrection

As a stand alone sci fi movie 6/10

As an Aliens movie 4/10

Just ruins what was made great by the first two movies.
The Newborn is just ugly too

Fright Night remake 8/10 I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this one. Im a huge fan of the original, so I had to turn that off in my brain and had fun. The 3D wasn't anything amazing and the blacks are sh1te but it's still a fun ride.

Killer Elite - 5/10. An interesting premise, but I couldn't really "get into it". Of the three leads, the only one I care about at this point in their career is Statham (and just barely), so that may play into it.

Also.. I Redboxed this, and my copy was skipping like a fothermuck with probably 20 minutes to go in the film, so I finally gave up, turned it off, and Wiki'd the movie to "see" the ending.

The initial premise (Statham's mission) was a unique plotline, though.

The Thing (remake/prequel/2011 venture) - the only thing I enjoyed about this movie was the nod to the original (including the nod to its fantastic musical score) during the ending; I enjoyed the nods to the original film throughout this one, but besides that.. it was utter crap. Carpenter's original doesn't have anything to worry about. The female lead did a good job, though.
3/10
