Denver 2013 Comic-Con
This past weekend was Denver's 2nd annual Comic-con. The attendance has surpassed expectations with between 40-50 thousand tickets sold. Denver has been needing a decent comic convention for years and it looks like it now is serious competition for them now. William Shatner was the headliner among many other stars. I assist a friend of mine who has an online toy store as well as a small brick and mortar toy store. I worked all weekend setting up, selling, watching the booth, and tearing down. It's a lot of fun and a lot of work. I'm beat. But one of the highlights was taking my grandaughter on a short tour of the Comic-con and she got her face painted.

It was a great show and attendance growth has surprised everyone and as such the con is experience growth issues (long lines). last year there were about 27,000 in attendance and this year the word was around 45,000. Phenomenal growth for the second year. Word is they are expecting even more growth next year. Denver has been needing this for years and with the appearance of a resurgence in pop culture the demand is high here.

Keith, I was there all three days--I'm sorry I missed you!
It was a pretty amazing con--a friend of mine owns Time Warp comics up in Boulder, and he helped put the con together, and he was SO happy about the reception this year. Incredible numbers. Next year should be even bigger! Can't wait.

Agreed it was amazing. I have a friend who owns eplanettoys.com and he had a booth in the front left. He did amazing business and sold a bunch. I didn't have much time to browse as I was manning the booth most of all 3 days but from what I saw it great. Next year should be even better!

Teague, I was there too and I'm sorry we weren't able to connect. Should have assumed you'd be there and reached out to you. I've been in Denver two years now and we still haven't connected. We'll have to fix that.

We should all try to get together some time. Even just for lunch on a Saturday, maybe on our next journey to Mile High warehouse.
