I personally don't think she fits this role. I would of liked to of seen Rooney Mara (girl with the Dragon tattoo remake) play this part. My guess is they choose her for her Star power. That will attract more people who have never heard of Ghost...

I was really hoping that they actually pick a Japanese actress to play the role. Such as Rinko Kikuchi, Rila Fukushima, Tao Okamoto, Eriko Hatsune, etc.
Overall I am disappointed in the choice of an American actress, but I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Scarlett is fine and understandably a box office draw with Avengers and Lucy. From the producer's standpoint it's almost a no-brainer and Scarlett knows she needs to hit while the iron is hot. The character is a cartoon (correction Anime) and an android so don't think ethnicity is a big deal. Hopefully the cast will be diverse, and there's no way there won't be one or two strong roles for Asian actors given both the source materials and the importance of that market. Should be a cool movie.

Seeing the current trend of going for PG13 for remakes and movies targeting mass appeal, I get the feeling this movie will PG 13 as well...
In that case a lot of content from the 1995 movie won't make the cut. No nudity, no gore, no blood, etc. There's a lot of famous scenes from that movie that would be impossible to achieve properly with a PG 13.
