Throwing away the boxes is like throwing away money.

It might not matter now, but if I die, I want my family to box it all up and sell it for whatever they can get for it. It's the least I can do for them for putting up with my crazy obsession for all these years.

It sounds like you either should rent a storage facility, or buy less statues, so that you can afford a bigger house.

Keep the boxes.

I can't count the times when I wanted to put something away when moving or just temporarily and didn't have the box because I tossed it. Never again. Even if you aren't going to sell, the box goes with the piece. I just reorganized things for more space. Just make sure you don't place valuables against outer walls.

It's not possible after a certain point in a growing collection to keep the styrofoam for many collectors.

The choice is to either stop collecting or start throwing out the foam.

There is no storage space for it. I'm lucky I can collapse the boxes and keep them.

As for moving, I think there are enough packing products out there to facilitate moving things safely if you take the time to pack it properly.

Basically there is no choice in the matter.

The foam has to go. I can keep foam for only the most valuable statues.

Renting storage space is just rock stupid financially. You will burn through money in no time more then you ever would lose value on the collection.

I collect statues, not boxes and foam. If you have the space that's awesome, I would keep it all but reality for many of us is what it is.

Maybe true. But what about the cost of boxes, peanuts, and bubblewrap. Then add the still not knowing if the statue will be as safe as the custom made box and styrofoam. When I packed away some of my older CD videogame systems (with out the original boxes and inserts) I was worried. Statues are completely different. Don't even add if you want to move or ship with a carrier...I just prefer to be safe and find a corner or two for my boxes. But then I don't have the number of statues that many have...
