I've liked all the movies Gibson has done, based on his other movies he would defiantly add a darker overtone to the Iron Man series if he directed it. I personally think the series needs it after Iron Man 3's bit of cheesiness with the whole bad guy debacle.

I got this off Twitter and it quotes an interview with Deadline. I would suggest that RDJ is saying he is done with the role post A3 due to the time in his life and his desire to purse other artistic endeavors.

The Gibson comments might be RDJ's way of not doing it. I commend RDJ's loyalty but I would suggest that the House of Mouse would want nothing to do with Mel.
