Same here. I loved Byrne's run on the FF! My all time favorite, and right up there with Claremont and Byrne's X-Men run for me...

As much as in my heart I agree, it's a bit of a poisoned chalice now. I honestly don't see how an FF franchise could succeed, it's been too tainted to be valuable as an option. I feel the same is true for the X-Men, Fox have ruined them, just to a lesser degree.
While I think good films could be made, at this point audiences would be incredibly cautious and it would hurt the box office.
I'm just happy Marvel were able to get DD and Punisher back into the fold.

Oh yeah, Claremont and Byrne's run on the X-Men is my all time favorite in my 40 years of reading comics.

If Fox is hellbent on keeping the actors, Marvel & Fox could softly retool them, creating a cinema-situation whereby the team is established. It could be a few years later & the FF could be living in the Baxter Bldg. but, as of yet, haven't really been participating in the movie universe. Reed & his team could just slide on in with little or no reference ever being made of the disaster of their film. You'd need an established MU movie character guest-starring & "boom" they're there. No origin, no reboot, just have the FF exist even if it's just a shot of the Fantasticar flying high over a shot of NYC, just to let the audience know that they're now here.. Then, Marvel & Fox could build from there. Hell, they could start by just guest-starring for a scene or two in an Ant Man movie. Th X-Men? ... Well, there you have a problemo.

Okay, now I'm ready to find a corner, curl up in the fetal position and just start screaming into the walls:
