The New 52 incarnation of Black Adam had a cape (and hoodie, too) just like Captain Mar... uh, Shazam.

i can't agree more.
Black Adam had this slick look without the cape when all of the other super heroes and villains around him were in cape... I always thought that a was design desicion ahead of its time. But now, all of a sudden DC brought in a cape to Black Adam with the new 52... DC is stupid, i mean come on... lol But i expected better from WB, they have actual costume designers for this stuff. The film's costume almost look perfect though never the less, only problem is they carried the cape that came with new 52... just get rid of it and turn back to the slick look of the orginal costume please.

He did have a short cape before New 52, for a little while. I think it was during his “good guy” gig when he was getting married to Isis and when she died he ditched it and went nutso.

Well, since the movie version of Shazam featured a costume more closely associated with the aesthetics of the New 52 version (More ornate boots and gauntlets, no boot cuffs, similar chest emblem, a belt and not a sash and a cape that attaches at two points rather than the roped cape which draped to one side) it kind of stands to reason that Black Adam's costume would take its cues from the New 52 as well. Although, to be honest, I'd favor ditching the cape, as well.... or have it get ripped away in the course of battle.

Resurrecting this old thread. The news today was pretty exciting. Black Adam will be fighting Hawkman(!), Doctor Fate(!), Atom Smasher (already announced), and Cyclone.
Can't wait for Hawkman! And I appreciate the Rock's enthusiasm for this movie.

A ways off, but I'm a bit shocked this is happening. Johnson looks the role and I'm curious how the story plays out and feeds into Shazam series.
