The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.

Anyone ever taken UPS to small claims court?

I recently shipped a Prime 1 1/3 statue that arrived damaged. I filed a claim so UPS collected the package from the recipient to inspect it then sent it back to me after they predictably denied my claim (giving their usual insufficient packaging BS).

I got it back and opened it. It?s even more broken now then the pictures the receiver sent. There are some parts snapped off that aren?t in the slot the piece sits in meaning they were broken outside of the box then placed back in there. I have no reason to believe the buyer did it so I can only assume whoever inspected it broke it even more from mishandling. I can?t even salvage this $1K statue now.

That sucks hal... was the outer box damaged or did they just throw it around until the statue within broke?

Every time I use UPS, I see that opening scene from Ace Ventura in my mind. shudder

Good luck man. I had this happen with a bust fifteen years ago... they denied the claim at first but I appealed (with help of the print station that shipped it for me). The amount was considerably less than what you're facing. Do they still have an appeals process?

I'm not sure about the appeals process. It took me forever to just get to the right person on the phone yesterday then I ended up having to leave a message (and they didn't call me back today so I'll probably try again tomorrow). It was originally only 2 pieces broken that I could have fixed, but they destroyed the thing and yes, the box is torn up.
