So .... What Did We Think Of Aaron's New Star Wars Kick-Off For Marvel?

Their may be a teeny spoiler below, but I tried not to.
-------------------------------------------------------------

I thought the 1st issue was pretty good although I'm still thinking a lot of credit on this solid kick-off should go to Cassaday's great art (even though it looks like he might have "pulled a Land" & may have incorporated or heavily used portrait stills from the movies for a few face-panels).
Weird jettisoning all the Dark Horse stuff & going back to basics, but I can deal.
What did you all think? Does it seem like Skywalker & Vadar remember that they're related any more?

Read through 34 of the issues so far and they all seem identical. Hoping the remaining 40 add more to the story.

I thought it was good. Not great, as the online reviewers have rated it, but solid. Cassaday's artwork actually fell a bit flat for me, probably for the reason you mentioned. I think this is supposed to be somehow set before Luke knows Vader is his father.

Have you ever imagined a world with no hypothetical situations?

Yes, it takes place not long after the destruction of the Death Star. It was good at setting the tone, but like most first issues there wasn't time for much to happen.

I've always felt like the first time Vader and Luke meet should be on Cloud City in Empire. I feel like it takes away from that meeting to have them have met before, especially with lightsabers ignited. So we'll have to wait and see how that gets handled in this series.

With Disney's no Expanded Universe decree, are they really going to stray too far outside of what we've already seen in the movies?

I loved all the Dark Horse stuff and how they built up all the secondary characters and then went really out there with stuff like Legacy. I'm just hoping for a little something off the beaten path from Marvel and hope it's just not 20+ variant covers of every issue.

They have plenty of space to work with as long as they make it fit with the films. There's the years between SW and TESB, as well as the space between TESB and ROTJ, plus the 30 years between ROTJ and TFA.

I though it was pretty good solid first issue not great though. I thought the artwork was pretty good but sometimes the art seemed to go "off model" (if that's a good term for it). The art at times looked just like the actors but in other panels it was a little off.
It was surprising to see them have Luke and Vader meet face to face so soon. I'll be back next month.
