IDK, that was a different situation IMO. That is them trying to do an unlicensed, artist specific rendition of a mythological god. If there was some sort of factory quota or something, where 300 was the magic number to get a better production price on Moon Knight, they could have easily bumped up the ES by 30 to 300 and sold the extra 30 pieces through conventions.

True but it was not just one random god, it's THOR. Who, even in Mythological form, is way way more popular than Moon Knight!

I didn't say random, I said mythological. And that doesn't address my second point that if they truly were aiming for 300, why didn't they just bump it up by 30? Or, for example the Mary Jane/Spider-Man (or even Namor) has an ES of 388. Why not just bump those up to 400? IDK, I get what you're trying to say, but my point stands that if 300 were the magical number, they could have easily said "ok, let's just do 300 instead of 270."

In the end, only XM truly knows.

My theory: they weren't expecting such low numbers for Spider-Man and Moon Knight and they wanted to limit the "damage" in terms of finances.
But it's pure speculation here....

Yeah, I mean in the end it doesn't much matter. The Moon Knight statue is a magnificent piece, I just don't really know anything about the character, which is probably true of all but the hardcore fans.
