Glen Dunclan's 'I, Lucifer' being made into a film...

So I finally finished reading one of the most difficult books I’ve ever read, only to find that they’re making it into a film.

‘I, Lucifer’ is British author Glen Duncan’s story about how Lucifer is offered a chance to redeem himself by God. He is given 1 month to spend in a human body, and told that if he can live without doing harm, that he can live the rest of the body’s mortal life. A further reward is that if in that lifetime, he repents his sins and accepts God’s forgiveness, he will be reoffered a place in Heaven, minus his angelic status.

The book constantly flips back between the key events in Lucifer’s fall and his machinations throughout time, as well as the life of the man he is inhabiting, all told from Lucifer’s unique perspective.

I don’t know how many of my fellow forum goers have read this book, or actually read for fun (no offence meant by that, novel reading just isn’t everyone’s cup of tea), but I just wanted to know if anyone had read it and their feelings on it. Or how they feel about it being made into a film.

Haven't read it, but it sounds cool. Almost looks like it would make a cool comedy. Like the Cook/Moore vehicle "Bedazzled".

It's definitely not comedy material.

It talks about Lucifer's involvement in the Inquisition, WWII, the Temptation of Eve, etc with a shocking amount of personal involement, which later becomes almost regret.

The film will be...interesting to say the least.

Haven't read it but it sounds interesting. I actually do read for fun and relaxation. Being an attorney I read constantly for work, but reading for relaxation is one of my favorite things. I read mostly Fantasy or murder/mystery but this sounds cool. I'll check it out and get back with you. Thanks for the rec.

Neither was the original source material for Casino Royale.

It should be interesting though.

I see your point, but we all know how loony some people get when it comes to religion.

I think there is going to be controversy anyway, if they made it a comedy, I think there'd be even more.

Glad there are a few people are gonna give it a try, I can't wait to see the film, Ewan McGregor and Daniel Craig are attached to the project, playing the Devil's two guises.

I may have to look into this book, it sounds interesting. Gotta finish the last Harry Potter first.
