Nike Air Mag (Back to the Future Sneakers!)

The sneakers that Marty wears in the movie; yeah, they're probably coming out for real. They're making an announcement tomorrow. Rumored price tag per pair is $1,000.

As ridiculous as that price is for a pair of sneakers.... this is just too damn awesome!

If they don't automatically zip up like that, then it is a failure.

Nike submitted patents for an auto-lacing system quite a while ago. It's quite clear that those patents were for these sneakers. We'll know by tomorrow though, hopefully.

im all over these like white on rice! my user name says it all. . .

the price tag is stupid and i highly doubt it will stick. . . all the sneaker sites i know of haven't mentioned a price tag and they are the ones who have been invited to LA

but i will get these at all cost no mater how much they cost! but i highly doubt 1000 for these. . .

"Michael J. Fox will be on the Late Show with David Letterman tomorrow, 9/8, with a fun announcement about the MJFF"

Perhaps Nike has tied up with the MJF Foundation and MJF will be promoting the release of the shoes. I wonder if they will air that commercial shot at Twin Pines Mall.

Wow.

This COULD be really cool but the unfortunate reality is that releases like these are done for the publicity as opposed to actually putting said product within the customers reach, let alone in their hands.

Nike recently released a watered down (well, compared to this rumored offering) shoe based of the BTTFII design a year or two ago and it sold out in less then a day. Thats how most of their limited releases go.

Another key aspect will be where these are made, what specifications they are made to, what matterials are they constructed from and what type of warranty will they carry.

With the acception of the limited genuine python air force 1's that Nike had made in Italy everything else of theirs is made to "meh" spec in China using foam glued to fake leather. Collecting shoes of their nature always struck me as a bit limited (and risky) as they are now made to last as a piece of wearable clothing, let alone as un-worn collectibles.

I'm hoping all pans out though.
a 1k price point better be indicitive of premium spec such as:

- Genuine leather and welt
- quality, high spec actuators for the "laces"
- Electrluminecent lighting for the strap logo.
- Made in USA and/or Italy
- Top notch warranty
- killer packaging with extras

It's about time! Get it?

long wait, and because the announcement is BTTF related.
