I read x-men in the 90's, and I think a lot of people started to. That cartoon, after all.

i understand completely. the cartoon i disregard, but i'll cop to being a snob about that. the Jim Lee debut of adjectiveless-X-Men brought a whole new generation of readers to the X-books, which is enough to be grateful to JL for, & i really dug his style for a while. I'm just surprised by how strong a hold that look has on folks is all.

It irks me, tho, when either 90s or first appearance is the only option for characters who've been in continuous existence for 40+ years. it's like the great 80s years didn't happen. Nobody who started reading the books in the 90s, or who fell in love w/ the Saturday morning Fox cartoon, went back & read Inferno or Fall of the Mutants or the Morlock Massacre? That's what set up all the new stuff that happened in the 90s.

(& i'm 30, so i'm guessing i'm at least a close contemporary to a lot of y'all)

you wre reading before us, i'm 30 too. I first started with executioner's song. I still love that cover with cable standing over a shot prof x.

I remember jae lee's excellent work off x-factor, I've just grown to love his art style more and more!

truly? the marc silvestri stuff turns you off? i think MS's ladies are hotter than JL's, if i'm any judge, lol.

i don't mean to put anyone on the spot & in fact i'm making the same argument y'all are, just one "era" earlier--that's when i got hooked, too. My avatar's my FAVORITE all-time issue of Uncanny, when they go to Genosha to rescue Madelyne Pryor, Rogue, & Wolverine & the X-Men KICK A$$.

i think that issue's from 1987, the year I turned 10.
