Your Pick for Most Underrated Movie
I'll start it, Spielberg's "War of the Worlds" movie.
Here is a movie that most critics felt was awesome, but audience reviews were split. My gut feeling is that many people who did not like it expected it to be closer to the original sci-fi movie classic (same thing happened with Star Trek Into Darkness - another great movie) or who had issues with Tom Cruise and therefore could not review it objectively.

Hair - the Musical. Excellent film. It should be up there with some of the best film musicals of all time.

It’s not under appreciated, but it is underrated - “Big Trouble in Little China.” Sticking w/John Carpenter, “Ghosts of Mars” is a pure psychedelic trip that no one seems to recall.

Absolutely love it and have watched it multiple times at the theater. I even have it on 3D Blu-ray. Never watched Avatar again after seeing it in the theater.
