The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford 8.5/10 - Slow and methodical, which is no bad thing, especially when the acting, cinematography and directing is as good as it is here, but I don't know how much replay value this one will have for me. Fantastic score by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis too. That a film this good and this well made went on to earn less than four million dollars at the U.S. box office though is a crime against man and God.

I watched the Indy trilogy this week and for the life of me I still can't decide whether I like Raiders or Last Crusade more.
Raiders is cooler in the respect that it's got the best female lead and that Indy is going one man army almst.
L.Crusade is cooler in the respect that we get some Indy backstory, and the support cast get a huge amount of screen time which is great as Sallah, Brody and Jones Sr are amazing.
Temple on the other hand...boy did I forget how bad this film was...it's not terrible as a film in it's own right, but it doesn't fit with the other two at all. The Bond-esque bit at the beginning is so hack-kneed it's laughable. and the whole spiritual Indy saviour of India is a little hard to swallow...

Affleck was amazing in that film...his performance was so squirmy and uncomfortable, he was perfect.

The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T (1953) - 6/10
Interesting kids musical/comedy co-written and designed by Dr. Seuss. Beautiful sets and costumes, great songs and dancing, but the story got really slow near the end, and it was pretty anticlimactic.
HOWEVER...
My 16-month old couldn't take her eyes off the screen, so that counts for something.

I agree.. it's hard to decide which I love more between "Ark" and "Crusade", and though I'd see either of those again before I'd see "Temple of Doom", I think "ToD" is a decent fixture in the trilogy (f#ck the fourth movie) as the "Indy vs. Savages" installment.. since he fights mainly Nazis in the other two.
"Crusade" has sooo much excellent dialogue, though.. between Jr. and Sr., and the other characters.. agreed; but "Ark" is just.. classic.. and Harrison's "improv" in the scene where he had diarrhea? Perfection.
Anyone see R2D2 and C3P0 in this film pic?
