Punisher - 4th times the charm?

In the Marvel Movie panel at SDCC:
"Feige revealed Frank Castle is now under the control of Marvel Studios and he hopes to "bring him into the fray soon."

Do you think it is too late for the character? Think anyone will give another movie a shot?

What the hell was wrong with Ray Stevenson's Punisher?

What, you mean sad, pensive, repentant Punisher? What a joke. The actual "Punisher" bits were OK if a little cheesy but he spent 3/4 of the movie moping. And they killed Microchip. Stevenson would have been the Punisher of all Punishers if he'd had a reasonable script under him. But, as per usual, they Schumacher-ed the whole thing.

Hah! Joel Schumacher is such a dipsh!t director, I just used him as a verb. Now that's infamy.

They should have made a sequel to the first Thomas Jane Punisher. It would have worked, having already resolved the whole back story requirement in the first film. I like that they killed off his entire family, rather than just his kid in the park. It made it all more believable.

The Ray Stevenson one was akin to Batman and Robin of the 90's Batman series; over the top, with no heart or substance to ground it and make it into a good film. Thumbs down to that one.

A complete reboot done by Marvel can still go either way. We'll see... maybe if they get an Alex Proyas or Robert Rodriguez to do it it'll turn out good.

BTW, if they do go ahead with another, I vote they replace everyone but Ray Stevenson. That is unless someone's talking to him about Batman of course .

Dude, we were totally on the same wavelength on this one.

I will appropriate your term "Schumachered"!

In the comic, his wife and two kids were killed in the park. Course in the movie, I think they killed about 30 family members!

I have never seen any of the Punisher movies, but from what I've heard I haven't missed much. I've always thought that the Punisher should be a character who would translate to film well.
