Cross country skiing is great if you live in a small country.

2001 replicas:who'd be in?

What about ship replicas of 2001: Space odyssey ?

The ships in those movies are incredile and very realistic, still nowadays.

I personnally would love to get a USS Discovery (but not studio scale as the original was 630inch - 16meters if I remember well)

Fun little VRML 2001 page.
Play a MP3 of Blue Danube and select full screen, then select the view from the clipper ****pit.

Ya know this is a ironic thing. A couple of years ago I wanted to start my own motion picture "studio scale" ships and recreations. I planned to comission some artisans and techs to produce large full scale replicas of the "Sulaco" from Aliens, the Mad Max "Interceptor" and the Superman crystal rocket. But that dream was never realized due to Icons and Master Replicas hitting the scene. But one of the things I always wanted to do was produce/own a large scale reproduction of the Discovery...which I think is one of the greatest ships in move history...

You're right: the discovery studio scale was Huge (see my first post) comared to the star Destroyer from Star Wars (around 32 inch Length if I remember well).

In the 2001 movie you have ships which could still be real. And some have very good designs. Unfortunately, Kubrik destroyed all the scale models used for the movie

A replica of the Discovery would be nice. Also one of HAL's "eye plates"

would be cool. Also a nice little replica of the Monolith

that was flat black made of some nice heavy substance with the precise 1:4:9 ratio of dimensions would be cool too.
