A Phenominal series.
Highly recommend this - I am super picky when it comes to shows (Don't watch TV- just buy seasons on DVD), and only a select few have really stood out for me.
MY top 3 are
Lost,
Sopranos,
And Band of Brothers
Honorable mention to The Office for a fun comedy

Yes there is, from what I've heard. One of my favorite writers, George Pelecanos is or has written the screenplay and Tom Hanks production company is doing it. It will concentrate on the Pacific conflict.
I heard both writer and Hanks on NPR discussing it. Fingers crossed.

Yes. It's about the war in the Pacific and it's being shot in Melbourne as we speak.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Definitely one of my favorite HBO productions. Everything about the show is top notch. My grandfather was in the Battle of the Bulge and the episode 'Bastogne' changed my whole outlook of WWII soldiers experiences.

Personally I wasn't anywhere near as amazed by this show as everyone else seemed to be, and as such I'd go so far as to say that personally I think it's a little over-rated.
That said, it's still a very good show, well acted, solidly written, and superbly produced, and if you are in any way a fan of war films then it's a definite must see. I just thought it was a bit over-hyped is all, and personally showed me nothing that I hadn't seen or heard before. But that's just me.

I loved it. This thread reminds me I need to watch it again.
Save yourself the rental and just buy it, if the price is right.
