DARTH MAUL 2.0 - now with more poncho! (and revised portrait)

I decided to revisit this guy, after looking at it for a while things started to bug me. I started to see some likeness things that were off then I started to wish I had done the tattoos differently so I decided a redo was in order

I made a mold of the original portrait and cast a copy that I could rework. ended up resculpting the chin, lower lip, upper lip, nose, cheeks, forehead and a couple of the horns. then with the tattoos I chose two control art pieces and based the facial tattoos off of them

for the poncho I kept looking at this piece and it just didn't feel "star warsy" enough... I wanted to try something like this for another project im working on so figured id use this as a test. I came up with this idea to use cloth and make a "sculpted cloth" poncho that I could drape over his shoulders and shape it the way that I want to give the piece some sense of movement (hes on a hover platform afterall)

in the end I feel much better about it now, hope you guys dig it - thanks for looking

Wow! awesome! quick question: is the cape scupted? how did you manage to apply that fabric-texture to your sculpt?

Thanks guys!

For the cloak i cut a piece of fabric to the size i wanted (fabric has to be really thin bit still fall nicely and have good weight). Then i soaked it in aerosol clear coat, draped it over the statue (wrapped in plastic) and used a hair dryer to dry it and shape it as i went. I kept spraying it along the way with clear coat, blow dry, shape and reapeat until it was rigid enough and the shape i wanted
