Truth is I like the pose in your picture, but this teaser would suggest otherwise...

I'd question the statement that the statues are all strictly based on the official artwork - I'm assuming you mean the "ink style" images.
Sagat, Gouken and Ryu are not the same as the ink artwork. So I don't see it as a rule.
