I'm no historic weapon expert but that's what I thought when I first saw the pics. What is that thing suppose to protect if its the size of a basketball?

It's a miracle that she caught 2 flying arrows with it. I agreed a larger traditional shield would have make more sense and a better match for her sword.

Saw the figure announcement and thought I'd head over here to see what the experts are thinking. Did not disappoint!

That shield does look comical, though does have a historical basis.

What happened to the 1/6 scale figures they were doing from this line? Did they ever release 1/6 Shard?

They were smaller shields used primarily for parrying sword strikes between two duelists, they are lighter and more agile and great for their intended use, but not so much for charging into battle against multiple enemies and blocking a barrage of arrows.

The Buckler was taken into battle on occasion but the Religious crusades which this Shard is clearly based on used a larger more appropriate shield, plus Sideshow could have done a really nice detailed shield for her, they did an amazing job on the shield for Ravlatch.

All. solid points, and that photo shop does look amazing. But a non factor for me. I’ll be displaying her with the axe. I have two shield carriers in my fantasy line up with Llane and Ravlatch. Now I’ll have two badass female dual wielders with a short swords and an axe in Shard and Sonja.

Good point, the axe I think looks better on this piece anyways

right, so the idea of it is more like an enlarge gauntlet than an actual shield.

I'm sure most will choose to display her with the ax regardless so it's all good.
