I think its pretty stupid for GG to alienate their customers in this manner. Not everybody can afford to travel to the SDCC and to say that only those people that do are worthy of seeing their products is a slap in the face to everyone who supports their product. If they aren't ready for public viewing don't show them, simple as that. And if you're worried about photos that are taken at the Con misrepresenting the products then GG should just release their own "official" images and list them as a "work in progress" and it wouldn't even be an issue.
I agree it is stupid and unfair but they are only doing it to create the controversy. Any advertising is good advertising and if they try and make it seem as if it is difficult or taboo to see their images on the net then it will just create more interest and potential demand for the product. Negative or positive publicity does not matter. The fans are still going to purchase the stuff.....even begrudgingly. There doing it right now as I type this and you read it.
Being that I work for a toy company.statue here is the reasoning. If an item is unaproved by a licensor pictures can't get out over the internet. It's just a rule. A rule with many licensors that you do NOT want to break.
As wether or not GG should have shown the product or not *shrugs* who knows. Having it there so people can see it and talk about it even if they can't show their friends will create some buzz.
