Difference between Premium Format and Maquette

Hi guys,

Sorry if this is answered elsewhere. I've been looking at the new Sideshow X-Men line, and am wondering why Wolverine is a premium format and Rogue for example is a maquette?

To me they look like they are part of the same collection and fit together in terms of scale, is there something i'm missing?!

Thanks a lot!

Great, thanks for clarifying!

I thought it was weird they had pictures of the Maquettes with the Premium Formats but they are listed in different categories!

bingo... at least the way Sideshow uses that term.

In the film/animation industry maquettes serve as a 3-dimensional, real-world reference model to assist artists/developers.

Maquette involves extra engineering and a fancier base leading to a higher price tag.

i should add theyre the same scale with marvel / dc stand alone pieces (1/4 scale) but there are maquettes like voltron and iron giant that vary in scale. also to add to the confusion smaller multi character statues can also be maquettes like the hulk vs wolverine and spiderman / mj

so now youre probably back to where you started

Yes, Maquette refers to other scales as well. Galactus Maquette was not 1/4.

Maquette not always 1/4. Just take a look at the Peter and MJ maquette.

Sentinel, Voltron maquettes. GG did Star Wars Maquettes. mostly it was used for no scale. or a big character that was made not close to as big. I don't remember the title often years ago by SSC, just Iron Man maquette from Iron Man 2.
SSC idea of a PF now is not what it was ten years ago, then had to be 1/4 and mixed media. On some pieces like one I got in my first couple years SSC GG. spandex doesn't work on a piece like that, SSC then came up with idea to just make it 1/4 and use mixed media when they think it worked.
