Amazing Arizona Con 2013

so, whos local and hitting this up? not only do we get both famous Lee's (Jim and Stan), but, Uminga, Fletcher, and Zullo will be there! im maybe more pumped about seeing them than the Lee's! im letting the boys ditch school on that Friday so we can check it out before the busier Saturday. very much looking forward to it! plan on having this signed if possible!

They used to have it in Mesa but are expecting more cats this year so they had to move it to downtown Phoenix.

Cross country skiing is great if you live in a small country.

I normally go, but can't this year. They pulled out the big guns and got Jim Lee and Stan Lee to appear. It's growing into a nice con.

Yeah. Having 2 cons in your hometown annually will help with our out of town costs and con thirst. If you think about it, saving the hotel/airfare/gas/dining expenses alone will allow me to hopefully score some solid art at either the con or elsewhere. The convention center where both will be held this year is about a 20 minute drive, all freeway, from our house. I bought our passes for Amazing the other day and that was a solid $200 (me, wife, both boys) so thats a fat chunk already. The Phoenixcon (bigger than Amazing) is usually over Memorial Day weekend so we get an extra day out of that one, probably another $200 admission (less photo ops).

Our family decided last summer to try and make it to ECCC or Heroes this year, but, we decided to hit up Albuquerque instead. Bob Shaw is bringing his whole crew to that one and there are a handful of other artists we are excited about seeing too. Also helps that I'm from there and my best friend owns a half dozen hotels, so our hotel costs will be covered. Lots of food to eat on that trip.

I'm really excited also because I got a new Canon T4i and GoPro for Christmas so this will be my first con with those!

well, if it helps, i did see you can get a VIP pass (extra bill) and have extra items signed than the norm. i wonder if theyd allow a quick sketch rather than the extra items. ive seen jim do sick sketches in under 2 minutes. as for stan, ive had the same web of spiderman book waiting to get signed since 1995. hopefully thisll be the year.

yeah they haven't really said what the limit of items to get signed is. i only have a few books for jim to sign. as for stan, i was thinking of getting a buddy's golden age FF4 of Spidey book signed for him since i don't have anything really for stan. i feel like i should take advantage of the opportunity, but i don't want to spend hundreds of dollars to get a significant book for him to autograph.
