When less is more

As I see more new statues being made I start seeing less I want to buy and display.
For me the wow factor just isn't there like it was years ago.
Don't get me wrong I still like collecting but there's very little that catches my eye.
The action Thor by BD and the Thor by ARH are the only pieces i've really liked in a long while.
I keep hearing how good the SS Thor PF is well it's so good I only took it out the box to inspect it IMO the only thing it has going for it is it's size.
Bigger isn't better i'll take some DCD pieces over lots of these grail pieces I keep hearing about.
I look at other collections and my own and I think it's too cluttered.
I'm going to bring my collection down to a fraction of what it is to give my statues room to breathe.
So anyone else think the lesser you have the better?

Im starting thinking same way a bit.
But more concerning the large companies.
Sideshow for example was a good comapny some years ago. Now they spam so many statues one after another , that its nothing special anymore to own "a sideshow".
I more and more turn to independent rare kits now , and only get the very best prepainted ones (no "only" good or "very good" ones anymore).

Lesser is better for sure. I'm dumping all my BD busts. Who knows what else is next?

Some of the collection pics I see are just too cluttered. Too many so close together.

My collection isn't nearly as big as most on the forum and I don't plan on having a huge collection.

That said, I see pieces I want to buy almost daily.

Yep. Stopped buying 6 months ago and started unloading about 2 months ago. Even selling them at a great loss it is very liberating (and lucrative ).

Good point. The industry just seems to crank out product. I collect Marvel and DC statues and action figures and after awhile I said to myself "Why do I need 3 (or more) versions of various characters?", so I have thinned down some myself.

.. and now that they've gone digital they can crank out even more meaningless product. By virtual unknowns too!

Back in the day, Bowen was fun when he and a few well known sculptors did pieces for BD. Now with digital anyone can do it.

Quiz.. what did Cesar Dacol Jr. and Avinash Hegde sculpt?
