I'd like to add,

I am pretty curious exactly how that type of conversation occours?

Imagine for a second...

Capcom boardroom (or email conversation):

Jerry: Here's our prototype design for E.Honda.

Capcom: Looks pretty good, but please remove the abdominal muscle before you proceed.

Jerry: Remove his abs?

Capcom: Yes, please.

Jerry: But it's part of your design. Why? (I'm hoping this question gets asked!)

Capcom: ?????? (I have no idea what they'd say here. They would literally be asking the sculptor to remove elements of their own design!)

Jerry: Ok, we'll remove them?

Yeah, is that how it goes? Because we've (a bunch of us) been puzzled by tiny oddball design changes for years.

I used to think Jerry was just scapegoating Capcom. But he's been kind enough to shed a bit of light on the subject since.

But I'd LOVE to know how they request their own design elements to be removed. Especially since they totally appear in SF4, which Jerry has said Capcom wants favored on future releases.

Again, statue is still Boss as He11! No problem there. Just wondering about the 'behind the scenes' logistics.

Interesting, thanks Mark. Hmmm, if it were me (and god knows I wish it was lol) I would've narrowed his stance to fit his smaller base if that was the case.

The Hugo base had better Blow a Besta's floor out!

No, but I should be. I dunno, I've been a little burnt out on tournament hype recently.

It's a stacked tournament. I'll most likely watch the rest. And definitely won't miss a Capcom Cup.

It does suck. Because if he's ever going to get made, it'd be now.

Let's face it, his inclusion in USF4 is the absolute peak of this highly obscure characters popularity.

Once this tiny hype train dies down, he'll fade to Q and 12 status in popularity.

I'm an outrageous Final Fight fan. It's Street Fighter's brother! I need Hugo and any other Final Fight characters I can get my hands on!

Hugo, Cody, Guy, Haggar, Rolento, Poison, Sodom! Count me in!

It's appropriate for Honda. Like a Sumo who's too large to be contained in the ring.

I'm fine with the touch of realism. But the proto had them and it looked appropriate. And he has them in the game that was created by Capcom. So it's very strange.
It's not like it's something that Jerry or John tried to add artistically. It's Capcom's design.

If even non-statue aficionados are pointing it out, you know it's a problem.

Anyway, still an incredible piece regardless. Just fix that foot/base overlap and he's all good.

I've always found it interesting that Koto, Prototype, Neca, RAH, Playartskai, Kinetequetts etc, etc, etc seem to get limitless artistic freedom with the license, yet PCS gets oddball knit pics all the time?


I realize PCS is held to a higher standard, but c'mon. Honda's abs? Chun Li's teeth? Just weird.

I'm actually glad they toned down the abs. For my personal tastes this looks better.

And yeah, I agree with you that it's crazy how all other companies get artistic freedom while Jerry has to jump through hoops for approvals.

btw, Alex's foot also goes over the base (unless I've put mine in wrong)
