Harley Quinn 1/6th scale by DC Collectibles

I posted images of this in the past. But those image's did not make use of a tripod.
These new images do.

This 1/6 scale PVC piece has a certain sentimental meaning, as it represented the first time i
would use decals and paint to alter a piece. While the decals worked out well, it was the single
blue streak that runs down Harley's left cheek that made me that feel good factor.

The left eye (her right eye) could be worse, it could also be better.
For such a good statue, given the size / price, they should have a word with the eye artist ;D

Maybe I could find a talented painter to re paint both eyes. Maybe 1/6th scale is too small to
paint such small eyes.

8/10

The blue patch+streak turned out wonderful. I mixed and applied the blue patch to the area
below Harley’s left eye. I then used a single strand of paint-brush hair covered in thinner to
cause some of the blue to run / steak down Harley’s face. The experiment worked out.

Sideshow - Red Sonja EX PF

Sideshow - Red Sonja EX PF arrived today. Sonja looks great! Eye's appear to be good, although
look at the piece from the wrong direction, and the eye's can look distant. Blood splatter looks
excellent! the leather belt, fur butt cover, EX cloak look great. Hair looks well cast, no sign of
the dreaded 'granules'. Base looks nice. The piece fitted together easy enough. Sword looks
nice, and the arrows feel solid with some weight. The silver metal areas feature a decent amount
of shine.

QC Issue(s):
Sonja's left arm, the upper inside area, is sandpaper rough. Could be a paint issue?

If i wanted to be super picky:
The plastic Axe is what it is, plastic. I'm not too sold on the shiny brown paint used to convey
leather on the Axl handle.

Sonja's left hand appears to be plastic. There's webbing and granules between the fingers.

As good as the beige wrapping on Sonja's upper left leg looks, it's not hyper realistic like the
prototype images implied. There is skin onto wrapping paint bleed (see: first image).

While the 3 arrows are nice in solid with some weight, i'm not too sold on the single gold color scheme.

Taking into account all of the above, and the price. I'd rate Red Sonja 9/10

I love this one. Probably my favorite of the bunch that Sideshow has made.

The Axe handle let's the piece down. Everything else looks great. One of Sideshow's better pieces.
Captain Marvel PF remains my no.1 ..Black Widow PF possibly rates no.2 when it comes to my collection.

I decided to go ahead an make a couple of small changes to the Axe paint app.

Originally the lower half of the Axe handle was matte black and the main part was gloss black.
Which failed to make sense. Now all of the Axe handle is matte black.

The wrap around the Axe handle looks good where the hand is located, as it is matte light brown.
Along the rest of the Axe handle, the brown is a darker glossy brown, which fails to make sense.
I decided to paint over this using a thinned out black-matte. Close up, the original brown shows through.

The 3rd fix included painting over a small area where the Axe head meets the handle. There was
brown paint bleed from the handle onto the Axe head, which did not look good.

Yup.. much better now - gone is the gloss brown that stuck out like a sore thumb.

Given the Axe handle is made from wood, and given the size of the Axe head, and given how thin the Axe handle is, i'm surprised it's fit for battle. I'm over thinking things

A couple of shots of Red Sonja with added matte black to the Axe handle.
Gone is the dreadful looking shiny cheap looking brown.
