Just got a reply...

'As advised HMRC will only accept an amendment to an entry if the dispute comes from the importer in writing.

Your query has been passed to the FedEx Brokerage Administration Services Department (BAS) to contact HMRC on your behalf. If you need any further updates on your amendment after the 12 week period, the BAS department are contactable on'...

I sent them links to how V.A.T should be calculated and mentioned how I found it unbelievable Fed-Ex needed me to point them in the right direction.

Fingers crossed.

I was told by FedEx that SideShow fails to come under the 5% code, thus is charged at 20%. They also suggest the only option is via HMRC

I'm waiting to hear back from HMRC at the moment on two SideShow statues. One from UPS and one from FedEx.

Just been charged £188.19 by fedex for batman beyond. £1056.62 to get him in the UK.

Spoke to two agents. First says everything is 20% no-matter what code. Second says...

Sharon E: Vat is always charged at 20% regardless what the item is.
Me: "The commodity code for importing is 9703000000. Goods are subject to VAT reduced rate 5%."
Me: is the code you have quoted me
Sharon E: You would have to contact HMRC regarding this as these charges are calculated by the government.

Just waiting for HMRC to get back to me now.

I am confused by fedex. Duty Calc brings it to £81.31 at 5% and GOV is also showing 5%.

Am i mistaken somwhere?

I have just spoken to UPS about this and I think we need to find out the correct answer as some people are getting a discount and other not.

This is what UPS have told me that my Red Sonja & Sideshow

The items unfortunately are not deemed as collectibles (5% VAT) or original sculptures by the customs notice 702 and 718 as they are available in high quantities.

I looked up these and are correct in 702 a collectable is defined more for museum pieces in specific areas like botanical and archaeological.

As to Original Sculpture it seems that this is limited to 8 per mould.

So what is the correct answer.

Just got a call from a guy at FedEx. He rang to confirm the total i actually paid as SS had the total value and the actual amount I paid. I also said to him while he was on the phone that the taric code meant i should only be paying 13.5% VAT and he checked and said yes you are right so that dropped the amount down substantially which meant that they pay the amount and bill me later. Otherwise I would have had to have paid the full amount with CC before delivery. Result.

New to the forum here, and this probably isn't the right thread to ask this in but was there a thread or discussion created where there is an explanation for the hike in shipping prices from Sideshow?
Couple years ago your average premium format would cost me US$50. Now it's US$100.
Red Sonja costs US$150 to ship to here in Australia.
